Sony hasn't been ambiguous at all. It's just the Microsoft's approach to the way the Xbox One is going to treat used games is so game-changing (in a bad way) that it has changed the context of the questions that Sony was asked back in February. People are not going back and reading the interviews that were given then and trying to read them in the context of the questions about the Xbox One. But when the questions to Sony were asked and answered this ...

Man, when they announce that FFvsXIII, has been changed to a PS4 exclusive FFXV it's going to be epic....and it is going to sell, A LOT.

There is no way in hell that Microsoft doesn't know what the business model for the Xbox One is going to be 4 to 6 months before launch. They know exactly what the used games policy is going to be and they told us. They just meant to hide it because they fear the blow-back from the gaming community if everybody knows the truth. That's why are giving none answers. They don't want to tell us the truth.

The gaming community can define their machine and kill it...

The guy that wrote this article is an idiot, either that or he was paid by Microsoft. Microsoft should care very much about the second hand market. The second hand market lowers the entry price of games and brings more money into the gaming industry. Moreover very few people are exclusively new game buyers or exclusively used game buyers. Most of us buy some of each and sell some games back and keep others.

This guy is arguing that Microsoft is going to succeed in takin...

Of course you are not using Kinect to spy, and you would tell me if you were wouldn't you?

@4Sh0w and Chuk5

The negativity Sony got from the PS3 was nothing like this.

Most of the guys at the hardcore Xbox sites are saying that they are not going to buy the new Xbox One. I know people who have only had Xboxes and have had Xboxes since the release of the first Xbox 1, that say they will get the PS4 and not get the second Xbox 1.

The 360 RROD didn't get close to this degree of negativity either. The negativity that the second X...

The 360 d-pad sucks, I'm glad they are changing it. It seems to be the only thing that the second Xbox 1 does right. That is all.

As long as the always-online thing isn't true???? But it is true.

As long as the always-online thing isn't true, AND the used-game fee isn't true, AND the ever-watching Kinect isn't true. There are a lot of things that Microsoft has said are true that would have to be not true in order for Microsoft to turn this thing around.

I meant the second Xbox 1, called that because that is the name Microsoft gave it, even though is actually the third Xbox; not to be confused with the first Xbox 1, which earned that name by actually being the first Xbox.

Now we have two Xboxes that should be called Xbox 1. I see why "Xbox One" is not a good name for the third iteration of the Xbox.

I agree

Microsoft is setting itself up to be the sole source of games that people buy over the Xbox platform. Everything that they are doing is consistent with that. Always online, used game fees, 100% installation for all games, etc.

It's actually a greedy and not too well thought out model, that is one step a way from catastrophe in the game market.

This is why Microsoft went ahead with this in the first place, and why Microsoft won't change their policy. They believe, as Jek believes, that they can get away with it. Pure and Simple.

There is nothing inaccurate or inconsistent with the reports of the Xbox One'...

It doesn't matter what games Microsoft shows at E3 or how good they look, everybody is going to looking for answers to the other stuff.

People will want to know about the way Microsoft is going to treat used games.
People will want to know how long they can play their new Xbox 1's without internet check ups.
People will want to know how they can be sure that Kinect is broadcasting their private lives over their internet.

In short, Mi...

Well, I'm not tired of it.

The second Xbox is the most anti-consumer product I can recall seeing ever in my lifetime. If it succeeds in the marketplace it will make gaming much more expensive and shrink the industry at the same time. There is no way I am buying one.

No mandatory online checks means no check to see if the games I play are used or not.

3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence. Quote Michael Denny, Senior VP of Sony Worldwide studios.

"Even taking back a step from here, PlayStation 4 can still be enjoyed old school without an Internet connection at all."

If there is no internet connection, how is Sony going to know whether my game is used or not? The answer is "they are not goin...

The only reasonable way to police this is with an internet connection which the XBone will require and the PS4 will not. Pure and Simple.

Not all publishers would use the option even it was present. That is because if they chose to use it, then their game would be at a disadvantage to games that did not. Therefore, they will voluntarily decide not to use a system that would ban the re-sale.

4731d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

There is no way in hell that they would do that. That would kill half of the developers and publishers and practically all of the brick and mortar retailers in one year.

If they even tried it, all of the publishers would jump ship immediately.

But then on second thought I can't say that the people at Xbox are too stupid to try anything can I?

Give him a break, guys. This past week must have been really, really, hard for SDF Repellent. After being so thoroughly betrayed by Microsoft and practically forced by them to decide to go with the PS4 next gen, he needs some time to adjust, I would guess.
